A man is being held in connection with the death of a 46-year-old woman at a house in Castleknock in Dublin this morning.
Gardaí were called to a house in La Verna Dale at 10.40am.
The woman was taken from the house by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown with serious injuries, which she later died of.
The dead woman has three children aged three, six and nine.
A 48-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station. He can be held for up to 24 hours.
The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem is expected to be carried out later tonight.
