Cocaine with an estimated street value of €900,000 has been seized following a number of searches in Co Louth.

Local gardaí along with members of the Garda National Drugs Unit discovered 11.5kg of the drug during a search of a house at Charleville, Dunleer.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Drogheda Garda station.

A cocaine press, used for the purpose of packaging the drug, was also recovered in the search.

The searches were carried out early this morning and were as a result of an ongoing operation.

It is understood all of the cocaine was found in one of the houses searched this morning.
