British detectives investigating the murder of an 11-year-old boy in Liverpool have arrested a 16-year-old boy.
The parents of Rhys Jones laid flowers at the scene this afternoon.
The schoolboy was shot in the neck outside a pub in the Croxteth area of Liverpool on Wednesday as he walked home from football training with friends.
Last night Merseyside Police released two teenagers on bail aged 14 and 18.
Rhys' parents have appealed for help to catch his killers.
His mother Melanie said somebody knew who shot him. She said they must be frightened but appealed to them to come forward. While her husband, Stephen, described the loss of their only child as his worst nightmare.
Rhys was a keen supporter of Everton. The club is to have a minute's silence before its game tomorrow against Blackburn Rovers as mark of respect.
Everton manager David Moyes and club captain Phil Neville have also joined the appeal for information.
Police are continuing to comb the Croxteth area of Liverpool for further clues and a special number has been set up for young people to text information anonymously.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has described the killing as a heinous crime and said it had shocked the whole of the Britain.
