Gardaí have said a second person was injured during an incident in Dublin early this morning in which a 26-year-old man was killed.
They say the second person, a 20-year-old man, is being treated at St Vincent's Hospital, but that his injuries are not life threatening.
The incident occured at about 2am this morning on Londonbridge Road, when an altercation broke out close to the Lansdowne Tennis Club in Sandymount.
Gardaí have named the victim of this morning's fatal assault as 26-year-old Mark Spellman of Dalkey, Co Dublin.
A post mortem examination was completed this afternoon and the investigation is ongoing.
Gardaí in Donnybrook are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact them.
