Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry after two young men were hospitalised with serious stab wounds in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary last night.
A dispute that had developed on the main street of the town made its way onto Bridge Street where up to 60 people became involved in a row between two gangs of youths.
Gardaí found the two injured men lying on the street.
The assaults happened shortly before midnight.
Gardaí said the men are very lucky to be alive.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and gardaí are investigating.
