A man in his 40s remains in a critical condition in hospital following a shooting incident outside his home near Inch, Co Wexford, yesterday.
A local auctioneer, who had been visiting the man's house yesterday afternoon, reportedly contacted gardaí after a shot was fired.
It is understood the man was wounded by a shot fired from his own gun following a stand-off with gardaí.
Gardaí are investigating whether or not the gun was fired intentionally. The Garda Ombudsman is also investigating the incident.
