The funeral has taken place of the Inspector of Prisons, Mr Justice Dermot Kinlen, who died on Wednesday aged 77.
The congregation heard Mr Justice Kinlen described as a believer in human solidarity and a man with a strong sense of human rights and of justice.
The requiem mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Donnybrook was attended by members of the judiciary, the Minister for Justice, Brian Lenihan, and the Ceann Comhairle, John O'Donoghue.
The Taoiseach and the President were represented by their aides de camp.
Mr Justice Kinlen is survived by his sister Aideen and his brother Kevin.
Mr Justice Kinlen was buried in Deansgrange Cemetery following the mass.
