Three people have escaped injury after two shotgun blasts were fired through the windows of their house in west Belfast.

The incident happened at Creeslough Park in the Lenadoon area at around 1am this morning.

The shots smashed a living room window and a glass door.

A man wearing a black balaclava and tracksuit was seen running away from the scene.

The house owner said he believed it must have been a case of mistaken identity.

The PSNI has appealed for information.

SDLP west Belfast MLA Alex Attwood condemned the attack.

He said it was fortunate that no one was injured in the 'cowardly attack'.

He also called for people in the area to assist police in their inquiries.
