Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the Romanian man who was stabbed to death over the weekend may have been murdered in an apartment in Bettystown, Co Meath.

The apartment was sealed off by gardaí late last night as part of their ongoing investigations into the murder the 32-year-old man.

Late on Friday night he was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda but was pronounced dead.

The man was found collapsed in the garden of his home in the Brookville estate in Drogheda, Co Louth, but a post mortem examination revealed he died as a result of a stab wound.

As part of their hunt for clues, they sealed off the apartment in Bettystown.

Forensic experts spent most of the day inside examining the scene.

A small yard near the complex was also sealed off and a car has been forensically examined.

Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry in relation to the murder.
