Two men were arrested in Spain this morning after a catamaran named 'Lucky Day' was detained by Spanish police.

Lucky Day catamaranThe vessel (left) was seized at sea and escorted to the port of La Coruna where it is now under armed guard.

It was flying a US flag and had recently been marked as sold on the internet.

Four other men are being held in Ireland in connection with the seizure.

At a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court last night, two men, Joe Daly with at address in Kent and Perry Wally, also known as Steve Brown, with an address in Essex, had their period of detention extended for a further 72 hours.

Judge James McNulty was told that their detention was crucial to the garda investigation.

Meanwhile, poor weather is hampering the search operation for drugs off the west Cork coast.

A navy dive team has been on standby since Monday waiting for conditions to improve, so caves in Dunlough Bay can be searched for any stray bales of cocaine.

A coastline search was conducted today by gardaí and customs officials amid Force 8 gales.

A total of six men are now in custody in connection with the €107m drugs haul, the largest in the history of the State.

It is understood that the gardaí working with the navy have accessed the memory of navigational equipment seized from the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) in Dunlough Bay.

This has given them positional information on the movements of the RIB and the position of other vessels.

The Global Positioning System is satellite-operated and would hold information on plotted routes and the way points where vessels have been.
