Freak weather to blame for Rush incident

Gardaí say unusual weather activity in the Rush area of north Co Dublin was to blame for a loud explosive noise last night.

Following reports of a large bang that shook windows, gardaí carried out searches for an explosive device this morning.

Gardaí now say they received a report from Met Éireann showing that 'freak weather' conditions were probably to blame for the noise.

The fire service says a helicopter search was carried out overnight but nothing was found.
