A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the manslaughter of his friend in May 2005.
Richard Mullen, from Claremont Estate in Navan, Co Meath, was 17 when he attacked Simon Sharkey at a house party in the town in the early hours of 28 May.
He was on bail at the time of the incident.
Mr Sharkey, 18, died six days after the attack, just hours after being discharged from hospital.
Mullen today pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter at Trim Circuit Criminal Court.
