The internet video site YouTube has announced it has created localised versions of its website in nine countries, including Ireland.
The move, announced today in Paris, will see country-specific sites also created for Brazil, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK.
The local sites are to be translated into native languages and will allow YouTube to highlight content that is specific to the users of each country.
Some Irish clips have done very well on YouTube as a whole.
During the election, RTÉ's video of the so-called 'Rumble in Ranelagh' between John Gormley and Michael McDowell was viewed more than 10,000 times on the site.
