A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of Sara Neligan, who was found stabbed to death in her apartment in Dublin city on Thursday night.
Brian MacBarron, originally from Arklow in Co Wicklow, and with an address at Winter Garden Apartments in Dublin appeared at Dublin District Court earlier today.
Detective Sergeant Brian Duffy told the court that Brian MacBarron was charged just after 11:15pm last night with the murder of Sara Neligan.
Gardaí found the body of the 31-year-old nurse at the Winter Garden Apartment complex after friends expressed concern that they hadn't heard from or seen her.
Ms Neligan died after suffering a number of stab wounds.
Members of the Garda Technical Bureau have continued an examination of the apartment throughout the day.
Brian MacBarron did not speak during his brief court appearance this morning.
A solicitor for the accused asked that his client be medically assessed.
There was no application for bail or legal aid.
Judge John Coughlan remanded Mr MacBarron in custody to appear again in court next Friday.
