Cigarettes valued at €61,000 were seized by officers from the Revenue's Customs service at Rosslare Europort last night.
More than 8,500 packs of Marlboro brand cigarettes from Poland were discovered concealed in a false compartment of a trailer.
The vehicle had arrived in Ireland by ferry via Cherbourg in France.
A 48-year-old Polish man was questioned and has since been released.
