A seven-year-old boy remains in a stable and comfortable condition in the Midlands Regional Hospital following an attack by two rottweiler dogs on his estate in Co Offaly last night.
The dogs broke loose from a secure area on the Sycamores estate in Edenderry and attacked the boy, named as Jordan Denn shortly at about 9.30pm last night.
He suffered injuries to his head, legs and shoulders.
The animals were taken away by the Offaly dog warden and have now been put down at the request of their owner.
Jordan's mother Martina has said the family is disappointed that there was not a more urgent response from the authorities yesterday.
It was reported that the two rotweiller dogs had been on the loose in the town several hours before the attack on her son.
A garda investigation is under way.
