A substantial amount of cash was taken in an armed raid on a security van in Gorey, Co Wexford this morning.

The security guards were refilling the ATM machine at a service station on Arklow Road when they were confronted by three masked men, who appeared to have a handgun.

The raiders fled the scene in a black Volkswagen Golf with an 06-D registration and headed towards Dublin.

One of the security guards received minor injuries and was treated by a local doctor.
