A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body near the village of Ballydesmond in Co Cork.
The man has been named as David Brett, 35, from Charleville.
Mr Brett was shot dead and it is believed he was a significant player in the drugs trade in Cork.
The body was found near Foyle Primary School at around 10.30pm, about 6.5km from the village.
The Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, has completed a preliminary examination and the body has been removed from the scene.
A full post mortem examination is expected to be carried out on the body later today.
A garda technical examination is continuing at the scene.
