A jealous husband in Northern Ireland who attacked his wife's lover and ended up injured in hospital with him has been given a six-month suspended prison sentence.
A Belfast court heard how Robert Hanna had smashed his way into the north Belfast home of Stephen Bill, the morning after his wife confessed to having an affair with him.
Mr Bill was hit about the head with a dumbbell, but managed to grab an iron bar to defend himself before escaping into his kitchen.
When Mr Bill was taken to the city's Mater Hospital for treatment to his head wounds, Hanna was in an adjoining cubicle being treated for a broken arm sustained during the fracas.
Hanna's lawyer said his client had been motivated by jealousy, but now acknowledged his wrongdoing and expressed his sorrow and remorse.
The judge said she was taking the exceptional course of suspending Hanna's sentence, adding the defendant had been provoked by events and had committed the offence while in an emotional state due to his faltering marriage.
