The Circuit Criminal Court has refused an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions to restrict pre-trial publicity in relation to the former Dublin city and county manager, George Redmond.
The ruling was given by Judge Joseph Matthews today.
82-year-old Mr Redmond is due to stand trial in July on two counts of corruption.
The DPP's application was opposed by media organisations including all the main national newspapers.
