Up to 400 people attended a vigil to remember the 126 women who have died a violent death in Ireland over the last 10 years.
The vigil was held in Dundalk today on the 2nd anniversary of the murder of mother of three, Irene White.
Among those who attended were the parents of Sophie Toscan du Plantier who was killed in December 1996.
They were critical of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for not holding a trial into the murder of their daughter and said victims and their families had rights too.
The event is being organised by the sister of Irene White who was stabbed to death two years ago today.
The 43-year-old mother of three was stabbed and killed in the kitchen of her home in Dundalk
Gardaí have established that a man was seen running from the house at around 10.15am that morning but it was not until noon when Mrs White's body was discovered by her mother.
Although people have been questioned about her murder, no one has yet been charged.
Detective Charlie Geoghegan re-issued an appeal for information to the killings.
Meanwhile, gardaí have reiterated their appeal for anyone with information about any murder to come forward and contact any garda station.
