Former RTÉ London Correspondent, John O'Callaghan, has died following an accident at his at his home in York in England.
The 72-year-old served as RTÉ's Belfast Correspondent and later London Correspondent in the 1970s and 1980s.
Mr O'Callaghan was born in Croydon in Surrey to Irish parents and after reading English at Trinity College Cambridge he began a career in journalism at the Croydon Advertiser.
He later worked at the Guardian for 12 years before joining RTÉ.
After his retirement in 1986, he moved to France before returning to live in Britain five years ago.
Mr O'Callaghan was unmarried and is survived by his two brothers.
His funeral will be held at on 2 April at St John's Catholic Church in Yorkshire.
