Gardaí in Galway are continuing to investigate an incident in which a car was pushed off a pier and into Lough Corrib late last night.
Emergency services including two units of the fire brigade and a team of divers went to the scene after reports of the car being seen in the lake.
The pier is located at Bushypark about 3km from the city centre.
Initially there were fears that somebody might have been trapped inside.
Gardaí now say they believe it was a so called 'company' car purchased for a few hundred euro by local youths who pushed it into the lake.
So far there have been no arrests.
