Gardaí have returned two men to prison after questioning them in connection with the murder of Latvian woman Baiba Saulite.

Ms Saulite was shot dead at her home in Holywell, Swords, on 19 November last year.

38-year-old Hassan Hassan, Baiba Saulite's former partner, was released back into the custody of the prison service at 7.20am.

He had been questioned throughout the night after he chose not to avail of the sleep break to which he was entitled. Hassan was arrested in Mountjoy Prison yesterday.

The other man has been released from garda custody after being questioned in Malahide Garda Station. He was returned to Mountjoy prison at 2am.

A third man, aged 24 and serving a sentence for drug dealing, is still being questioned at Coolock Garda Station. He was arrested in prison yesterday afternoon.
