A garda investigation has begun into a stabbing incident in Mountjoy Prison.
A prisoner was attacked and stabbed by a number of fellow prisoners sometime around 9am this morning in the B1 section of the jail.
The man, who is believed to be from Dublin, received injuries to his upper and lower legs and is receiving treatment at the Mater Hospital.
The scene of the attack has been sealed off and a number of prisoners have been segregated.
Initial reports suggest that up to four people may have been present during the attack.
