The District Court in Longford has tonight granted gardaí a warrant to search a property in Longford town.
It is understood the property may be connected to the woman whose body was found in a laneway in the town this morning.
Judge John Neilan granted the warrant during a special sitting which lasted just a few minutes.
Gardaí investigating the death are seeking assistance in identifying the body of the young woman.
The woman is of small build, about 5' 1" to 5' 5", with short brown hair. She is believed to have been in her late teens or early 20s.
She was wearing a navy 'LA Gear' tracksuit top and bottom. The jacket was of the zip type and had pink piping a pink waist band and badge on the left side with the number 75.
She also wore a cream V-neck long-sleeved jumper.
The State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, carried out a post mortem examination.
The body was found behind a business premises on Killashee Street in the town at about 8.30am this morning.
It is believed she had suffered extensive head and facial injuries.
Gardaí removed the body from the scene this afternoon. It was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
