Dublin Bus driver Kenneth Henvey was described as a solid man in court today, as part of the Wellington Quay accident trial in which five people were killed.
Richard Regan, inspector for Dublin Bus, testified today that the 51 year-old Henvey is a 'solid man and professional driver' who never caused any problems.
Regan worked the accident three years ago and described the scene as 'total carnage.'
Another bus driver, Edward Kavanagh, testified as well. He told the court that the only words he heard Henvey speak after the accident were 'What did I work my rest day for?'
Earlier testimony revealed Henvey was supposed to be off on the day of the accident but agreed to work overtime.
Henvey, from Palmerstown in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving. The trial will resume on Monday.
