Dublin District Court has been told that a man charged in connection with driving his car at the revolving door of the main RTÉ television building is unfit to stand trial.

52-year-old Paul Stokes from Montpellier Parade, Monkstown in Co Dublin is charged with criminal damage and with causing a serious danger to members of the public on 2 December 2006.

This morning, Judge Bryan Smyth was told a medical report recommends that Mr Stokes is unfit to plead and also recommends further inpatient treatment.

The case was adjourned for mention on Thursday.

Mr Stokes told the court he had refused solid food in protest at his arrest and detention but he said he was 'forcibly injected' at the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum and he resented this very much.

He also faces a separate charge of harassing broadcaster Pat Kenny.

He was remanded in custody.
