Wicklow man collects €7m Lotto winnings

A man in his 50s from Co Wicklow has collected a cheque for more than €7m after winning the largest Lotto jackpot of 2006.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased a €16 multidraw ticket at the GPO on O'Connell Street in Dublin on 28 December.

His winning numbers were a combination of numbers of houses where he has lived and two random numbers.

The man and his wife plan to take more holidays abroad and look after their immediate and extended family.

The man, who won €7,452,671, told the National Lottery he bought his ticket on impulse: 'I don't normally play Lotto when bigger Jackpots are on offer as I always felt that I would be happy with the smaller amounts.  However, I am delighted with my win.'
