Michael Stone appears in Belfast court

The loyalist Michael Stone was remanded in custody when he appeared by video link at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.

The 51-year-old spoke only to confirm that he could see and hear the court.

He is accused of attempting to murder Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness of Sinn Féin and two security guards, as well as possessing homemade explosives and a real or imitation gun.

The alleged offences occurred at Stormont last month when Mr Stone's actions led to the evacuation of Parliament Buildings. He was remanded in custody until 19 January.
