The trial of Joe O'Reilly, who has been charged with the murder of his wife Rachel, will begin on 18 June next year.
Counsel for the prosecution said the case is expected to last five to six weeks when it goes ahead at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
Mr Justice Paul Carney said the June slot was the only time a case of that sort of duration could be accommodated.
Ms O’Reilly, a mother-of-two, was found beaten to death at her home in October 2004.
Joe O'Reilly, with an address at Lambay View, Beldarragh, the Naul, north Co Dublin, is on bail and an application was made to vary conditions to allow him to reside in Baldarragh on Saturday nights.
