The Vintners' Federation of Ireland has clarified its proposals aimed at helping publicans whose businesses have suffered from stricter drink driving laws.
In a statement the federation said it fully supported measures to help stop carnage on the roads but said communities who have been disadvantaged by stricter laws cannot be overlooked.
The federation is calling for support for publicans who are putting local transport initiatives in place in local villages and towns.
