Three men have appeared at the district court in Limerick on charges arising from the killing four years ago of security man Brian Fitzgerald.

John Dundon, 26, and his 22-year-old brother Dessie Dundon of Hyde Road, Ballinacurra, Weston in Limerick, along with Gary Campion, 21, of Pine View Gardens, Moyross, have been charged with the murder of Mr Fitzgerald.

The father of two was shot outside his home at Brookhaven Walk, Corbally in Limerick, in the early hours of 29 November 2002.

All three were served with the book of evidence in the case and sent forward for trial to the current session of the Central Criminal Court.

A fourth man, 49-year-old Anthony Kelly of Cragg House, Kilrush in Co Clare, who is currently in custody already charged with the murder of Mr Fitzgerald, also appeared in court today.

The book of evidence was also served on him and he was sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

A major security operation was mounted at the court today ahead of the men's appearance.
