Eight people have been arrested and cocaine worth over €3 million seized following a garda operation in counties Dublin, Meath and Kildare.

The raids were carried out by gardaí from the organised crime unit of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The drugs were seized at a residence in Celbridge, Co Kildare at around 10pm last night.

A quantity of ammunition was also recovered and two people were arrrested. They are being detained at Naas and Newbridge Garda Stations.

This morning, two men in their 20s were arrested in Glasnevin and are being detained at Santry and Whitehall Garda Stations.

At a follow-up search of a residence in Duleek, Co Meath, a man and a woman were arrested and five stolen vehicles were recovered.

All of those detained can be held for up to three days before being charged.

Separately almost €160,000 worth of drugs was seized in two operations in Cork city.

A 24-year-old man is being held after cocaine worth up to €140,000 was srecovered on Monaghan Road this morning.

And a 45-year-old man was detained after herion worth €18,000 found on the Blackrock Road.

Both are being held at the Bridewell Garda station.
