A firearm, a number of shotgun cartridges and stun grenades were also found during the same investigation.

Meanwhile in Co Westmeath, gardaí seized a quantity of cocaine with a potential street value of €250,000.

The find was made when a car was stopped and searched in the Kinnegad area, shortly before midnight, as part of Operation Anvil.

A man in his mid 20s was arrested and is being detained at Mullingar Garda Station, under the Drugs Trafficking Act.
