A 26-year-old Clonmel man has been given a two-and-a-half year prison sentence for assaulting a 14-year-old youth.
Noel Hannigan, from Cooleens Close, Cashel Road, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, was found guilty of assaulting Brian Rossiter in the town four years ago.
A few days after the assault, Brian Rossiter was found in a coma in Clonmel Garda Station and died.
The State said no attempt was being made to attribute his death to the injury inflicted by Noel Hannigan.
