5-year-old injured in Limerick shooting

A 5-year-old boy has been injured in a shooting incident in Limerick tonight.

It happened at around 7.30pm when shots were fired at a group of individuals outside a house in O'Malley Park in Southill.

The boy who was with the group was shot in the thigh.

He has been rushed to hospital and is being treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, at this stage.

Gardaí say the incident is connected with a feud between a number of families in the area.

A full investigation into the incident is under way and the scene has been preserved.

A car located near the group which was also damaged is to be forensically examined.

Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing a number of searches in the area.

This is the second feuding incident in the estate in recent days.
On Thursday night last a woman was injured after a house in the estate was petrol bombed also in a feud-related incident.
