The head of the Road Safety Authority, Noel Brett, has praised Garda efforts to target so-called boy racers in their effort to bring down the number of road fatalities.
Yesterday, Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy said the message was not getting through to boy racers and that some gardaí had hired unmarked cars to try and catch them.
Mr Brett said it was right to target young men in the 17 to 24 age group through numerous campaigns, and through their parents.
