A jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has found a nurse accused of poisoning two elderly patients guilty of one of the four charges against her.

The jury found Noreen Mulholland guilty of the charge of intentionally or recklessly administering a substance to 77-year-old John Gethings of Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, at Naas General hospital on 1 March 2003.

Ms Mulholland still faces a charge of assault causing harm to Mr Gethings.

She is also facing charges of assault causing harm and of intentionally or recklessly administering a substance to Seamus Doherty, 80, of Nass in Co Kildare.

Ms Mulholland had pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

The jury has now been sent to a hotel for a second night.
