Six people have been arrested in the Moyross area of Limerick tonight following searches by gardaí aimed at stamping out recent shooting incidents in the area.
Four men, two of them aged 16 and 17, and two women, in their 20s, were arrested shortly before 6pm.
Two handguns and a quantity of ammunition were also seized.
The six are being held at a number of stations in the city.
The arrests are part of Operation Anvil in which special units of gardaí are targetting the activities of organised and gangland crime.
Last night, a 20-year-old man was injured in a shooting incident in the Moyross area of Limerick.
The victim sustained pellet wounds to the face, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The incident happened in the Delmage Park area of Moyross at around 10.45pm. A burnt-out car was found nearby.
Gardaí say the incident is believed to be related to an ongoing feud.
