Gardaí are investigating a break-in at the constituency office of the Progressive Democrats TD Noel Grealish in Galway.
The break-in occurred during the early hours of the morning and was discovered by staff shortly after 7am.
Mr Grealish said the office had been ransacked, filing cabinets had been rifled and two laptop computers were taken.
He said he was concerned because filing cabinets in the office contained sensitive constituency documents.
The West Galway TD said it appeared unusual that digital cameras, mobile phones and a cheque book were not taken and gardaí are now trying to establish if any files have been removed or tampered with.
