An armed man has taken at least two hostages at a school in the US state of Colorado.
Students have been evacuated from the Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, about 55km south of Denver.
A police spokesperson said a man, believed to be in his 30s, had entered the school and was holding two girls hostage in a second floor classroom.
The spokesperson would not confirm earlier reports that the man was carrying a bomb.
A bomb squad and SWAT teams have been dispatched to the school while roads around the complex have been sealed off.
