Controlled explosion on suspect Dublin package

Members of the Army Bomb Disposal team carried out a controlled explosion this afternoon on a suspicious package that was found at a church in Dublin's city centre.

Gardaí and the Army were called in to investigate reports of a suspect device on the steps of St Anne's Church in Dawson Street.

Gardaí say the bomb alert was a hoax. Dawson Street has re-opened to traffic.
