A memorial service has been held in Australia for the television presenter and wildlife enthusiast, Steve Irwin, who was killed by a stingray earlier this month while filming on the Great Barrier Reef.
More than 5,000 people gathered at Mr Irwin's Australia Zoo in Queensland to hear taped tributes from Hollywood stars including Russell Crowe, Cameron Diaz and Kevin Costner.
The Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, led the tributes, describing Mr Irwin as a remarkable man who touched the hearts of millions.
Mr Irwin's eight-year-old daughter, Bindi, told the service of her wish to follow in her father's footsteps.
'My daddy was my hero; he was always there for me when I needed him', she said.
She continued: 'We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did.'
