A third youth has been arrested by gardai investigating a serious car fire in Moyross in Limerick last Sunday in which two children were seriously injured.

He was arrested after turning up voluntarily at Mayorstone Garda Station this evening.

Earlier this evening, two 17-year-olds appeared at a special sitting of the Children's Court in Limerick charged in connection with the fire attack.

The two, who have just turned 17, were each charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to six-year-old Millie Murray and her four-year-old brother Gavin.

They were both assigned free legal aid and remanded in custody to appear at St Patrick’s Institution next Tuesday.

The judge directed that they both receive whatever medical treatment was deemed necessary while in custody.

He also made specific directions to the press that the names and addresses of the two teenagers not be used and that no photographs of the two accused be used either.

The incident happened at Pine View Gardens in Moyross last Sunday.
