Gardaí are investigating the cause of a car fire in which two children were seriously injured in Limerick city yesterday.
The children, a four-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, were in the back of the parked car at Pineview Gardens, Moyross when the blaze started at around 2pm yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí are to carry out a forensic examination of the vehicle and say they are investigating the possibility that the fire was started deliberately.
The children were taken to hospital.
The girl has been transferred to the burns unit at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin, Dublin.
The boy is understood to be ill but stable.
