A 27-year-old man has been killed in a stabbing incident in Cork city.
He has been named as Peter Lynch from Upper John Street in Cork.
The attack took place at Fairfield Square, Farranree, in the north of the city.
Mr Lynch was brought to hospital at around 2.30am this morning but died a short time afterwards.
Gardaí are understood to be questioning a number of people.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
