A 26-year-old man has been granted bail at a court in Co Tipperary after pleading guilty to an attack on 14-year-old Clonmel boy Brian Rossiter, whose death is the subject of a judicial inquiry.

Noel Hannigan from Coleen's Close in Clonmel pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to the teenager in September 2002.

Brian Rossiter was arrested a number of days later in relation to a separate matter and spent time in Clonmel Garda Station.

He was subsequently brought to hospital in Cork where he died two days later.

Sentencing of Hannigan is due to take place next October.
