Police investigating the shooting of leading loyalist Mark Haddock have carried out more searches in the north Belfast area.

Two men are still being questioned by detectives about the attack.

The 36-year-old, who remains seriously ill, was shot six times outside an orange hall at Mossley in the Newtownabbey area near north Belfast on Tuesday.

The PSNI say they would like to speak to anyone who noticed a blue Renault Clio car, registration RBZ 922, in the Doagh Road area on Monday or Tuesday of last week.

The car was later found burned out not far away at Tynan Close in Monkstown.

Mr Haddock is on bail on a charge of attempting to murder a doorman at a social club in Monkstown.

He was named in that court case as a leading member of the Ulster Volunteer Force. Judgement in the trial has been reserved.
