A leading loyalist remains in a critical condition in hospital after being shot up to eight times near north Belfast.
Mark Haddock was shot yesterday afternoon in the Mossley area of Newtownabbey.
The 36-year-old is a suspected UVF member and had been on bail whilst on trial for attempted murder.
Police in Northern Ireland say one of the lines of inquiry is that the attack may have been carried out by former associates.
They have appealed for anyone in the Doagh Road area between 3pm and 4pm yesterday to come forward.
Police are also trying to trace the movements of a black Peugeot 309 car which may have been driven through the south Antrim or Newtownabbey area.
